Types of Au Pairs
We can unfortunately no longer accept further applications at the moment. You can find a list of Au Pair agencies in Spain at www.agenciasaupairaepa.es who will be happy to help you.
Basic Au Pair
The working hours range from 25 to 30 per week, including up to two babysitting a week. The Basic Au Pair program includes between 1,5 and 2 days off per week, of which one should always be Sunday. The Au Pair must have at least one full weekend off per month. The minimum weekly pocket money is 70€ (for 30h), although families can optionally contribute to some expenses as well (classes, transportation, etc.).
The expenses for travelling to Spain as well as the Spanish classes will be covered by the Au Pair, although the Host Family can optionally contribute to these costs.
Summer Au Pair
The Summer Au Pair program is fitted for young people who want to improve their Spanish skills but cannot go abroad during the school year because they have other responsibilities. This program covers the children's summer holidays (late June to early September). The minimum stay for the Au Pair is 2 months, and during this time the Au Pair will take care of the children while the parents are at work. However, this minimum stay can vary depending on each family's needs.
The working hours and the weekly pocket money will vary depending on the family's needs. However, for 30h/week the Au Pair will receive at least 70€; if the family needs the Au Pair to work longer, the pocket money will also be in accordance. In summer, the Au Pair is likely to work up to 35 hours, so some flexibility is required, especially because the family might go on holiday to the mountain or to the beach frequently and they could need the Au Pair to go with them.
The expenses for travelling to Spain as well as the Spanish classes will be covered by the Au Pair, although the Host Family can optionally contribute to these costs. Should any problem occur, we will try to find you another Host Family; however, during the summer time it is quite difficult as usually there is not enough time to find another family for such a short period.
Demi Au Pair
The Demi Au Pair Program is fitted for young people that have other responsibilities during their stay (studies at the university, volunteering programs, for example) but still wish to participate in the Au Pair program. The Demi Au Pair will have the same duties as a Basic Au Pair, but the working hours are reduced to 12-20 per week. The Host Family must provide a private room and full board. The Demi Au Pairs that work 20h/week will receive at least 50€/week. The Demi Au Pairs that work 12 or 15h/week will not receive any pocket money. The Host Family should adapt to the Demi Au Pair's schedule, as they have fixed responsibilities and schedules outside the Au Pair program,
It is quite common that Demi Au Pairs participate in the Au Pair program whilst studying in the university, attending Spanish intensive courses or living their Erasmus year here. The expenses for travelling to Spain as well as the Spanish classes will be covered by the Au Pair, although the Host Family can optionally contribute to these costs.
